I matched with him on Hinge after three weeks of terrible conversations with men who thought “hey beautiful” was a personality.
Our first date was chai and momos in Lajpat Nagar. Nothing fancy, but he made me laugh so hard I nearly inhaled a momo. We ended up talking until the market started shutting down.
A week later, I went to his flat to watch a series. His flatmate was visiting family, we ordered ₹250 worth of food, and he gave me his hoodie because I was cold.
We watched approximately twelve minutes of the show.
At some point, I looked at him while he was explaining something completely irrelevant about his office. He stopped mid-sentence.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“Then why are you looking at me like that?”
I told him he was being dramatic. He smiled, moved a little closer, and asked if he could kiss me.
That question did something to me that all the unsolicited shirtless pictures on Hinge never managed.
One kiss turned into several, the food went cold, and I forgot the plot of the show entirely. Every time we pulled apart, one of us started smiling like an idiot.
When I finally left, he walked me downstairs and texted me before I reached the main road.
“Next episode at my place?”
I replied, “Only if you can behave.”
He sent back, “You first.”
I have never watched that series. Not one episode.
